Best. Roast. Duck. Also just about everything else on the menu. Try the XO string beans and the hot pot casserole.

I haven't been here in years!! I don't know why I fight against traffic to get my Peking Duck when I could just go here minutes from my house and not leave the valley. OMG....we ate our fill AND still had plenty for leftovers...to be eaten later that night LOL!!! The atmosphere here is nothing to write home about...you are there to eat good food not gawk at the aesthetic lol. The location was clean and service was quick, fast and a hurry! I won't take too long to come back.

This is rounded up for duck and experience. PARKING (4 stars) Even tho the parking might be difficult to get into, there's parking for you all around. You might need to wait a few minutes before someone comes out of the supermarket. SERVICE (4 stars for efficiency) This is a small restaurant with good service. You'll have to wait in a long queue on the weekend. Be prepared. They issue numbers by party number. The service is quick. Abrupt and efficient. Just as much as you wanted to eat, someone is waiting behind you. The waiters are doing their best to get everyone fed. FOOD MAPO TOFU (3 stars) I've made better mapo tofu at home. It is a thin, watered down version. With plenty of tofu, and a bowl of rice, it easily makes a good and affordable meal for two people. Or one very hungry me. MIXED WITH NOODLES (3 stars) My son liked it "okay", but it wasn't flavorful or specifically interesting with a generic sauce. The dish was recommended as best noodle dish. Probably a nostalgic favorite. ROAST PORK (4 stars) Was good. Great crispy skin. Very light flavor. Simple meat-only dish. BROCCOLI (3.5 stars) Very well cooked. But sauce wasn't great. Just out of the bottle, poured over. Still, with vinegar and soy sauce, the crunch is nice and fresh. ROAST DUCK (4.5 stars) My wife and son love duck. And they loved this duck. It was a ton of food for the "whole duck". (5 legs too) They both ate a ton, but we brought home a "whole duck" in leftovers. PAYING I was told that it was "cash only", but they accept credit cards now [maybe for dine-in only]. PRICE VERY AFFORDABLE There's plenty of food to take home as leftovers. Some coworkers get takeaway from here regularly. I can see why. LOCATION They're situated immediately next door to 99 RANCH. If you want to pick up groceries, bottled drinks, desserts, liquor - this is a one stop errand. If you can't find food at the hot buffet in the restaurant, supplement it with the hot buffet in the supermarket.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem while craving some authentic Chinese flavors, and let me tell you, I hit the jackpot! The food was a symphony of flavors! The roasted duck was juicy on the inside, and packed with mouthwatering seasoning. The chow mein was a delightful medley of tender noodles, fresh vegetables, and savory sauces, each bite bursting with flavor. And don't even get me started on the barbecue pork - it was absolute perfection, with a sticky glaze that left us craving more. But perhaps the true star of the show was the bok choy. Simple yet stunning, it was cooked to perfection, retaining its crispiness and natural sweetness. It complemented the other dishes beautifully, adding a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors of the meat. Needless to say, my partner and I have already made plans to return. This place has stolen our hearts with its flavorful dishes and homey ambiance.

Want to just say this is our go-to Chinese food here in the Valley. There's a lot of Chinese restaurants but this is the most consistent one for us. Depending on the time you go sometimes you have to wait but since this is 15 mins away from us we typically get there before the crowd. For a party of 4 we asked for a big table because we tend to always order a lot (take out Chinese ) so we were seated at the big round table. You can order half duck here (but not Peking style for half), crispy noodles, whole fried sole fish and crispy pork chop are our usual order. I tried their soup noodle dishes - they're also good. Honestly never ordered anything that I didn't personally like. Service is good - very attentive and they have enough servers even if they're at full capacity. If you're not familiar with the area - parking can be tough because they're next to 99 ranch market and also another good Pho restaurant (pho so) but you'll find a spot especially if you go towards the victory side of that area. To go or dine in - this is always a good choice this side of town.

This review is for their Togo barbecue station. I got a half salty chicken for $13.63 that was juicy and came with ginger scallion sauce. It was so tasty and so nostalgic for me - who was born in Hong Kong. Of course American chicken cannot compare to the HK ones but it was pretty darn close in terms flavor and chicken was juicy enough! Can't really beat this value in 2024 in my opinion!

I love going to that place, although very busy, and sometimes have to wait to get a table... their food is authentic Chinese, very reasonably priced, and super delicious! The parking is horrible because the shopping center has 99Ranch, a very famous and busy Asian supermarket

I had reservations about visiting this place when I learned it had a C grade from Health Inspectors. But guess what? They made significant improvements and now proudly display an A grade! I've been a loyal customer at Sam Woo's for a long time, both at this location and the one in Chinatown (now permanently closed, no worries the San Gabriel locations are still around). Everything here is delicious. Having trouble choosing? Opt for the dishes with pictures - those are the chef's specialties. The rice dishes and BBQ items are outstanding. We got the 3-item combo with wonton noodle soup and they even included complimentary tea. The service was exceptional too!

Some of the best Chinese food in SFV. Super fast service and casual place. I love the duck wonton noodle soup, get it every time we go. Also love the chicken wings, steamed chicken, BBQ pork, fried rice, and their chili condiment.

The name Sam Woo has been iconic ever since I was born, and 100% sure possibly years before that. Going to China Town to get some BBQ from Sam Woo was the best and them having a location in the San Fernando Valley was a blessing for the Asian community. This location of Sam Woo has been around for decades. Its been many moons since my last time and my most recent visit. The food still holds the same memories as when I was younger and possibly the most authentic Chinese food restaurant in the valley. There isn't too many Chinese sit down restaurants in the valley. Our family met up on a Monday for dinner and wanted Chinese food. We have a go to place but they were closed. Sister asked me to find a place and it was easy to choose Sam Woo. It was the family's first time having their food and everyone was happy. My oldest niece loves duck and while our go to place has it, it does not compare to Sam Woo's. Overall, I am happy to see the business is still strong and that my family enjoyed the recommendation as it was their first time.
